The main goal of the project was to improve the job opportunities of pupils and students living in children’s homes by improving their language skills. This was made possible by the development of an extracurricular English language course as an educational interest activity.
The course was developed for and adapted to the special educational needs of the target group – children and young people staying in institutions of institutional and protective education, i.e., middle school pupils, secondary school students, and/or students of higher professional schools living in three children’s homes in the Ústí nad Labem district. The secondary target group was the teaching staff mediating the course.
Conclusions of the project:
The objectives of the project were as follows:
1) To create conditions for language learning of pupils with special needs by developing a language course;
2) To increase the specific competence of instructors to mediate the course to the target group;
3) to improve the language skills of the target group by implementing a language course in the form of an educational interest activity.
