The project Practical Teaching – Focus on Development of Pupils’ Competencies focused on the integration and strengthening of forms of practical teaching of pupils at cooperating secondary schools. The aim of the project was to develop key and professional competences, entrepreneurial literacy as well as pupils’ personal and social development of by supporting practical teaching and cooperation with employers/public administration in education.
The key activities of the project were mentoring and consulting of teaching staff, establishment of centres of practice at cooperating schools – implementation of follow-up business workshops, career weeks and students’ professional internships in companies and public administration. A separate activity for students of vocational schools was the implementation of student mini-enterprises.
Conclusions of the project:
The key activities followed each other. As part of the workshops, pupils worked on their own business plans in teams and the most successful ones took part in career weeks. Career weeks focused on the pupils’ personal and professional development. There were also entrepreneurs, who then addressed the pupils with an offer of professional internship. The placement of the internship enabled the students to gain work experience and get an idea of the real working environment and requirements for the pupil in practice.
